Cleaning a Fish Tank
- Clean your tank regularly.
By cleaning your tank every two to three weeks, you can save yourself the work of a major annual cleaning.
- Unplug all tank equipment except the light.
Otherwise the heater could crack when the tank is refilled. In addition,
power filters and pumps can overheat if they are run dry. After you
have replaced the water that you have removed, you can plug the accessories
back in.
- Check equipment daily.
At feeding time every day, check that all the equipment is plugged in,
turned on, and operating properly.
Electric power to the fish tank heater, pump, and filter should be turned off before you start cleaning.
